Art trades are closed (for now)

I take commissions! -…
Welcome to all the new watchers I got over the year - glad you've enjoyed my fanart and/or pinups =D. Don't be afraid to comment!

Another year is winding down – I did quite a bit of art this year. I got slow around May or June because of wanting to play Diablo 3 and then again in October/early November (I got myself into a LOT of art trades while working on that pile of Scooby Doo stuff). I was burned out, I wanted to do art, but I had to keep working on stuff for other people. Once the stuff was done, I slowly got back on track, and am back to doing a bunch of stuff.

This year was certainly interesting. I got into pinups a lot more, did that insane chibi a day thing in March, got a nice amount of commissions/art trades (check this post out to see most of the art trades I did!…), and finally got a nice collection of fanart I've done. I’d say this was probably my most productive year yet. I have a lot posted, but there is also the handful of stuff I didn’t post, and tons of sketches (I filled about three sketch books, which is a lot when you consider I use as much of each page as I can lol).

I think my productivity was helped a bit by a few things. Finding out how damn fun drawing girls can be, art trades, getting good feedback from various users, and my brother. This year, my brother finally “joined” the digital scene. Granted he still needs to learn to ink but he has done a ton of stuff this year compared to previous years, and is actually coloring now! That’s just awesome, and I think it motivated me to do more as well. It was just that much more fun when we both had something to share – along with his girlfriend.

Some stuff that really got us going was the fun challenges we used to do together, as well as going on about our characters and stories (wtf happened to that guys? It was fun as shit!). The one challenge that I think helped me the most was the one I’ve done solo, the color palette challenge. It made me start experimenting with line color and stuff – working with limitations helps you realize not everything needs to be the “right” color. As mentioned in a previous journal, I also drew bare breasts for the first time. That of course was tons of fun, and I sort of recently revisited it by doing a bunch of topless pinups with hand bras. I started using textures as well, but need to work on remembering to include them on clothes and stuff and not just backgrounds.

Do I really need to go over what I want to do next year? Still the same old actually do comics and draw more guys/epic stuff. I have some new wants though. Pinups obviously aren't going away, I love them too much. I think I want to try doing more pinups/pictures of girls wearing different clothing. More specifically, what you would actually see a girl wearing in public in the real world lol. I would also like to work on more dynamic poses using foreshortening and real backgrounds. How about more monsters and elementals as well? Just more variety. And if I cannot help but to do mostly pinups again, I at least want them to have variety. Right now I feel alright, I mean, I got human and lizard girls (other types if you count fan art). On top of that, different body types. But I think some stuff should feel different.

Style is another thing I ponder about from time to time. I see plenty of artists juggling a few different styles and it looks fun. All my stuff just falls under "my style". I want to experiment with that and bend the rules I got myself stuck in.

I closed requests...yeah. Let's just say I didn't like doing something for free and getting a 1-3 word comment from the requester lol.

That pretty much covers everything. As always, I welcome constructive feedback or links to tutorials/resources you think I could use.
